Opportunities at Redbridge

SAINTS FOUNDATION

Saints Foundation is the charity of Southampton Football Club.
“We use the power and passion of the club to transform lives in and around Southampton, helping people fulfil their potential to be more involved, healthier and empowered members of the community.”
Rebridge has its own Community Champion from the Saints Foundation, Martin Brain. A Community Champion’s role within school is to deliver a range of sporting activities and provide support to young people who are struggling within mainstream education.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD

By doing your DofE, you’re in for an amazing discovery and masses of fun as you take part in a range of activities, all leading to the achievement of an Award that’s recognised by unniversity’s and employers alike.

A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

SKI TRIP - ANNUAL

Every January Redbridge holds its annual Ski Trip in the Aosta Valley, Italy. Working with the resort experts at Interski, we have the pleasure of taking around 30 students on an experience of a lifetime.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Interski provide a fantastic programme for all different types of abilities. After 6 days on the slopes you will be amazed with how much you progress.

ARDECHE - ANNUAL TRIP

The Ardeche Adventure is a week long trip to the South of France where students and staff take part in a variety of adventurous activities. The highlight of the week is a two day canoeing excursion along the Ardeche River through the gorge, running rapids, cliff jumping, sleeping under the stars, laughing joking and being part of a team.

This annual trip is available to year groups 7-11.

For more information please email Mrs L. Mason at lmason@redbridgeschool.co.uk

Attendance

Research has shown that regular attendance and good punctuality are crucial factors in students achieving their full potential in education. At Redbridge Community School we wish to work in partnership with parents and carers and so are seeking your full support in ensuring that your child attends the School every day and on time.

We are always pleased to work together with parents/carers in resolving any difficulties but we are also committed to improving attendance levels at the School.

Winter Wonderland - December

On the final week of our Winter term Redbridge runs its annual Winter Wonderland event. Students are treated to our indoor ice rink, huge inflatables including a snowman bouncy castle disco and 40ft slide plus sumo snowmen suits and many other festive treats. Staff are on hand to keep their energy up, making delicious hot chocolates with all of the trimmings and candy floss.

Students with top attendance and behaviour points earn their tickets to the event and spend a lesson enjoying all of the attractions. Our wonderful Prefect team help run the event and ensure everyone has a fantastic time.

Falconry Reward Afternoon

Every May we hold our annual Falconry Reward Afternoon. As a reward for outstanding attendance, the event invites selected Year 7 and 8 students to take part in a wonderful falconry display with several different birds of prey.

The brilliant falconer, Michael, has been visiting our school for the past 7 years, and hosts a wonderfully unique and interesting display to show off these incredible species. Students have the opportunity to learn many facts about the birds, ask questions, watch them in flight, witness how they capture food and even hold a falcon like a professional handler.

We encourage all of our new Year 7 and 8 students to have impeccable attendance so they can have the opportunity to attend this brilliant event.

Party in the Park

Every year we hold our biggest event – Party in the Park! We treat the students with outstanding attendance and behaviour to an amazing selection of fairground rides, huge inflatables, ice creams, BBQ and more!

Students are able to indulge themselves in this free event in their year groups for an entire lesson and take part in as many activities as they wish.

We want all of our students to make sure they work hard throughout the school year to secure their invitation at this exclusive event! This is one event they do not want to miss.

VIP HUB

The Redbridge VIP Hub is our rewards area in school which allows our students a chance to relax, play games and socialise! This stunning space has a chill-out area with sofas and bean-bags, a pool table, air hockey table, dart board, arcade games and pinball machines! Deserving students can be offered lessons, afternoons or tutor time in the VIP Hub as acknowledgement for their hard work and ambition.

Prom

School prom may seem like a lifetime away for our upcoming students at Redbridge, but we understand just how important this event is for many of our leavers. This special event is traditionally held at the beautiful Chilworth Manor, and celebrates the success of our students and all of their achievements during their time at Redbridge.

Prom is not a given right to our students, it is a well-earned reward based upon attendance, attitude to learning and homework scores. We want to ensure we give our students the send-off they deserve at this truly memorable event.
