We are looking to recruit a dynamic team player with a passion for inclusion who understands how crucial relationships are in a school environment. The successful candidate will work as part of a close team and support young people with SEMH needs.
The successful candidate will work as a teaching assistant in our inclusion unit EduK8. EduK8 is a bespoke area of the school that works with vulnerable students and those at risk of permanent exclusion. Our January 2018 inspection report remarked that “Pupils taking time in the EduK8 provision make good progress. Many of these pupils were not doing as well as they could before they joined EduK8. They are less distracted and are learning more now.” We have become a local centre of excellence for how a school can be truly inclusive.
The role itself will involve supporting teachers who are delivering a range of both academic and vocational subjects to small groups of students. This is an exciting opportunity to develop an area of strength in the school, and the role will grow depending on the skillset of the candidate.
As a school, we recognise the importance of curriculum, and the students that fall under our inclusion provision have access to a broad range of subjects and activities including outdoor education, horticulture, animal care, construction and bicycle maintenance. We also like to develop our staff, so if the successful candidate has an area of interest that they would like to introduce as a curriculum area, we would be excited to hear about this.

“There is an underlying ‘family’ feel to the school, with everyone wanting to do their best for the students, whilst supporting one another in their development and wellbeing.”
“Leaders invest heavily in their staff, for example they provide opportunities for staff to take care of both their physical and mental health. Staff feel valued and like working at the school. They comment favourably on Leaders’ attempts to reduce unnecessary workload, enable flexible working and respond positively to reasonable requests for compassionate or other leave.”
