VACANCY

Inclusion Teacher – Main Pay Scale

Know someone great? Share it:

Contract Type: Full Time

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic team player with a passion for inclusion, to join our dedicated and committed teaching staff.

This is a niche role where the successful candidate would need to understand how crucial relationships are in a school environment, and have experience working with students who have SEMH needs, in particular Autism and Anxiety.

Part of the role will be working within our expanding Autism Resource Base – The Beacon.

This specialist provision is aimed at educating and developing children who, due to their autism and anxieties, find a mainstream school setting a huge challenge.

Ongoing training will be provided for this post, however we would particularly welcome applications from candidates with any of the following experiences:

  • Working with students with ASD/Anxiety
  • A primary school background (many students will access all subjects within the base)
  • Experience at leading social thinking/ELSA style interventions
  • Speech and Language Support
  • Occupational Therapy/Sensory Circuit support.

The Beacon provides a supportive and bespoke academic provision and environment, whilst developing students’ individual social and communication skills.

The successful candidate will also work as part of our wider SEN and Inclusion team, supporting and teaching students both in the mainstream and within Edu-K8, our Inclusion unit.

EduK8 is a bespoke area of the school that works with vulnerable students and those at risk of permanent exclusion.

Our July 2023 inspection report remarked that “Staff know pupils well and understand their needs. This includes pupils with SEND who are well supported academically and pastorally. Consequently, these pupils, including those in the school’s two specially resourced provisions, achieve well.”

We have become a local centre of excellence for how a school can be truly inclusive.

The role itself will involve teaching a range of both academic and vocational subjects to small groups of students. This is an exciting opportunity to develop an area of strength in the school, and the role will grow depending on the skill set of the candidate.

Redbridge Community School is an Ofsted rated (2023) “Good” school in Southampton.  It is a special community to be a part of.  For staff we offer:

  • No after school meetings lasting longer than an hour and only one meeting a week
  • A non-onerous marking policy
  • A work/life balance that is envied by other schools – Your life outside school is just as important!
  • A true community school where it feels like you are making a difference
  • An ethos of care for students and staff alike
  • A leadership team that supports staff in all they do
  • Great progression opportunities
  • An entitlement to a Private Health Care plan as soon as you join us, which covers operations, dental and optical care as well as providing many other benefits

In June 2022 we were once more awarded as Platinum Investors in People School placing us in the top 1% of employers nationally. The following comments are from our 2019 and 2022 reports, and they sum up what it is like to work in our community:

“There is an underlying ‘family’ feel to the school, with everyone wanting to do their best for the students, whilst supporting one another in their development and wellbeing.”

Leaders invest heavily in their staff, for example they provide opportunities for staff to take care of both their physical and mental health.  Staff feel valued and like working at the school.  They comment favourably on Leaders’ attempts to reduce unnecessary workload, enable flexible working and respond positively to reasonable requests for compassionate or other leave.”

Please have a look at our website to find out more about how we can offer you a superb work/life balance.

Closing date for applications: 30 April 2024

Job Starting: 1st September 2024, but an earlier start date would definitely be considered.
