Year 9 iPLAY Students Take Part in Maritime Careers Sessions

Year 9 iPLAY students recently took part in two fantastic sessions that were jam-packed with information, as part of our ongoing partnership with the maritime industry.

The sessions were delivered in collaboration with Maritime UK and Associated British Ports (ABP), giving students valuable insight into a range of maritime careers.

The morning session featured:

  • Nicola Denbigh, ABP (Association of British Ports)
  • Barry Saddler, Marine Pilot, ABP

Students learned about port operations, marine navigation, and the responsibilities involved in keeping ports and vessels operating safely and efficiently.

The afternoon session was led by:

  • Karishna Bunwaree, Project Engineer, ABP

This session focused on engineering within the maritime sector, highlighting real-world projects and the skills needed for engineering careers.

Throughout the day, students were well behaved, attentive, and highly engaged, listening carefully and asking thoughtful questions. The sessions provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore future career pathways and understand how classroom learning links to real-life industries.

We would like to thank Maritime UK and ABP, along with all the professionals involved, for their time, expertise, and continued support in inspiring our students.
