Year 9 Geography students enjoyed an exciting and informative visit to the Ordnance Survey Headquarters to mark GIS Day, an annual event celebrating the power of Geographic Information Systems in understanding our world.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore how spatial data is collected, managed, and used in real-world mapping. They learned about the vital role GIS plays in areas such as environmental management, urban planning, and disaster response. The hands-on sessions and expert insights helped deepen their understanding of how geography connects to everyday life and future careers.
The trip was a fantastic chance for students to see geography in action and to appreciate the importance of accurate mapping in shaping the world around us. The Geography Department is proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by all students who attended.
