Year 11 Construction Assessments Are Underway!

Year 11 students have now begun their construction assessments, demonstrating fantastic focus, independence and attention to detail throughout the process.

After two years and a term of learning and skill development, it is rewarding to see students confidently applying their knowledge in practical assessment conditions. The assessments provide an opportunity for students to showcase the high standards they have worked towards and highlight the progress they have made during the course.

As part of their assessments, students select two specialist trade areas to focus on:

  • Electrics – students wire and connect a simple lighting system, including a switch and at least one light.
  • Plumbing – students construct a pipe circuit to a stopcock, mounted on a board and incorporating bends, push-fit, end feed and compression joints.
  • Carpentry and Joinery – students plan and build a model timber stud partition wall, measuring a minimum of 2 metres in height by 1.2 metres in length.

Staff have been extremely impressed by the level of concentration, independence and technical accuracy shown by students. These assessments mark an important milestone and reflect the commitment and resilience students have shown throughout their course.

We are very proud of our Year 11 construction students and wish them every success as they continue with their assessments.
