Tending to Lucy’s garden: an opportunity to continue her legacy & pay respect to her memory

In tribute to our loved and missed student Lucy McHugh, students at Redbridge School have been tending to our “Lucy’s garden” in the forecasted rain.

The school community came together teaming up with Mitie, our caretaking network, for a busy day of digging, weeding, and planting; with the end goal of restoring our garden into a site of beautiful memory and refection. Students in year 10 and 11 rolled up their sleeves to replenish the soil and revitalise the area, it was wonderful to see the spirit and commitment of all.

Lucy’s garden provides a space for students to engage with nature and with the opportunity to learn about sustainable gardening practices. The garden is designed to be a serene spot for students to gather, study, enjoy and look after nature.

As the rain came and winds blew, the laughter and camaraderie among students echoed the spirit of Lucy, whose passion for the outdoors will always be remembered.
