Year 10 Food Technology students recently enjoyed a practical and engaging cooking lesson inspired by the classic British favourite, fish and chips.
Students were given the choice to prepare either crispy battered fish and chips or zesty tuna fish cakes with lemon and spring onions. Throughout the lesson, they developed a range of essential food preparation skills, including seasoning, shaping, mashing, frying, and learning how to cook fish safely and hygienically.
The Food Technology room was filled with the mouth-watering aromas of golden batter, freshly cooked chips, and sizzling fish, creating an exciting and motivating learning environment. Alongside practical cooking skills, students also explored the provenance of their ingredients, learning where their fish and other fresh produce came from and why sourcing food responsibly matters.
The lesson encouraged teamwork, confidence, and pride in their finished dishes, with students demonstrating excellent focus and enthusiasm throughout.
Well done to Year 10 for their fantastic effort and delicious results!
