Egg Drop Challenge – The Beacon

Last week, an exciting engineering challenge took place in The Beacon, where our students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test in the Egg Drop Challenge!

The task was simple in theory but tricky in execution—students had to design a protective structure to keep an egg from breaking when dropped from a height. With a limited selection of materials and a ticking clock, teamwork and quick thinking were essential.

Once the structures were built, it was time for the real test. One by one, the eggs were dropped from above, with everyone watching in anticipation. Would their designs hold up? The results were impressive—three out of five eggs survived the fall!

The challenge was not just a fun experiment but also a valuable learning experience. It encouraged students to think like engineers, work under pressure, and reflect on what makes an effective protective design. Well done to everyone who took part!
