Last week, a total of 54 students took part in the Bikeability programme, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and a strong commitment to developing important life skills. The programme provided students with the opportunity to either learn how to ride a bike for the first time or further develop their cycling skills to support safe and confident travel.
We are delighted to share that 8 students learned to ride independently during the programme, achieving a significant personal milestone. In addition, 7 students successfully completed their advanced Level 3 Bikeability award, which focuses on road awareness, risk assessment and safe cycling on local roads.
Despite challenging weather conditions, including ice, rain and cold temperatures, students showed excellent resilience by continuing to attend sessions during break times. Their determination and positive attitude were a credit to themselves and reflected their commitment to learning and self-improvement.
The Bikeability programme plays an important role in supporting studentsβ independence, confidence and safety, helping them to develop skills that extend beyond the classroom. By learning to cycle safely on local roads around the school, students gain greater freedom and confidence while understanding how to travel responsibly within the community.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Pedal Power for delivering the sessions and supporting our students throughout the programme. Their expertise and encouragement ensured that all students, regardless of starting point, were able to make meaningful progress.
Well done to all students involved for their hard work and perseverance. We are extremely proud of their achievements.
