On Sunday 23rd June, 45 enthusiastic Year 9 historians from our school travelled to the renowned Chalke Valley History Festival β the UKβs largest celebration of history and heritage.
Throughout the day, students were immersed in spectacular historical re-enactments, from Viking raids and WWII battle displays to a thrilling medieval joust. These live-action performances brought key historical periods to life, sparking curiosity and deepening students’ understanding of the past.
Pupils explored interactive living history camps, where they spoke to costumed experts portraying Romans, Tudors, and WWII codebreakers. Many took part in hands-on activities, including archery, archaeological digs, and even wartime codebreaking workshops inspired by Bletchley Park.
The visit offered an unforgettable opportunity for students to experience history beyond the classroom. Their excellent behaviour and engagement throughout the day truly reflected our school’s values of excellence, curiosity, and respect.
π A huge well done to all students involved β your passion for history was clear to see, and you represented the school with pride. Thank you to the staff who supported the trip and made this enriching experience possible.
