Our talented students in 7G1 Art have been working exceptionally hard on their latest project, exploring the Elements of Art and developing their ability to record rounded forms with accuracy and confidence.
To deepen their understanding of highlights, midtones, and shadows, the class set up an engaging still-life arrangement using a selection of fruit and vegetables. A focused spotlight was used to create dramatic contrasts, helping students clearly observe how light interacts with curved surfaces.
Using chalk and charcoal on sugar paper, pupils sketched their observations, carefully building up tone, depth, and texture. This traditional medium challenged them to work thoughtfully and responsively, blending and layering to achieve realistic shading.
The results were impressive—students demonstrated growing skill, creativity, and a real willingness to experiment. Well done, 7G1! We can’t wait to see how your artistic journeys continue to develop.
