We were fortunate to be given £12000 from the government to run our Summer schools in July and August 2021.
Our Summer schools lasted 10 days from July 26th to August 6th. We invited over 1000 students to attend, and had different days for different people. We ran a transition event for year 6, ensuring they were ready to join us as year 7s in September. We ran team building workshops for students in years 7, 8 and 9, where students were involved in orienteering, arts and crafts, making short films, cooking and bushcraft. We also had a full suite of sessions for year 10 students to help them catch up on some of the learning lost through school closures.
Over 53 staff days were paid at £180 a day, costing £9,540. The remaining funds were spent on lunches, food for the students to cook, and resources for the activities students took part in.
Altogether 261 students attended our Summer school, and a great time was had by all.
