Curriculum Overview

At Redbridge Community School, the curriculum is the foundation of our teaching and learning – the ‘bread and butter’ of what we do every day. We deliver a traditional academic curriculum, complemented by bespoke pathways that are carefully designed to meet the needs of every student.

Key Stage 3 at Redbridge covers Years 7 and 8, during which students follow the full National Curriculum across a broad range of subjects. At the end of Year 8, students have the opportunity to deepen their engagement with favoured subjects, while continuing to study the full suite of National Curriculum areas.

Year 9 acts as a hybrid year, bridging Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Alongside the continuation of National Curriculum study, students participate in our innovative iPlay programme, which uses play as a powerful tool to engage learners in developing the key attributes essential for success in both work and life. This year also marks the beginning of more specialised study, allowing students to build deeper knowledge and strengthen their ability to apply what they have learned in preparation for Key Stage 4.

Key Stage 4, taught across Years 10 and 11, focuses on preparation for GCSEs. The immersive and exploratory work begun in Year 9 evolves into a rigorous programme that builds deeper knowledge, sharper skills, and a robust platform for future academic or vocational pathways.
